Originally from Beckenham, Kent, Jonathan Stevens is a Tenor who is due to graduate from the Royal Northern College of Music this summer. He was originally trained by Tenor, Daniel Meades before progressing to the college where he is under the tutelage of acclaimed teacher, Nick Powell.
During his undergraduate years he has been fortunate to have been involved in many of the college operas playing Puck in A Midsummer Night’s Dream and appearing as a member of the chorus in The Merry Widow (Lehar), Street Scene (Weill), Cosi Fan Tutte (Mozart), La Vie Parisienne (Offenbach), Theodora (Handel) and Cendrillon (Massenet). Last year he took part in British Youth Opera’s production of Don Giovanni (Mozart) as a member of the chorus. He was also part of the chorus for Victorian Opera North-West’s commercial recording of Cellier’s opera, Dorothy. Later this year he will be appearing in the National Gilbert and Sullivan Opera Company’s tour, in which he will be a member of the chorus, as well as covering the roles of Alexis in The Sorcerer and Defendant in Trial by Jury.
He recently performed at St James’ Church, New Brighton as a soloist in Stainer’s ‘The Crucifixion’ which was his debut as a Oratorio soloist.
He is currently based in South-East London.
